- People who successfully complete this course are able to use formulae and equations to solve problems. This unit standard is based on objectives from Level 5 of Mathematics in the New Zealand Curriculum or Tauaki Marautanga Pangarau.
- People who successfully complete this course are able to solve problems which require calculation with whole numbers. Calculations involved are to be done without calculators because the skills required relate to estimation and mental calculation.
- People who successfully complete this course are able to: convert between fractions, decimals and percentages; and solve problems involving conversions between these number forms.
- People who successfully complete this course are able to read and interpret information presented in tables, and read and interpret information presented in graphs.
People who successfully complete this course are able to: use measurement devices to measure quantities; calculate quantities from measurements; and make estimates of measurements in whole number multiples of common units.
